A very fine mahogany breakfront/bookcase with secretaire drawer. The case throughout is inlaid with crossbanding and string inlays. Probably made in London, this piece could easily have been made by Mayhew and Ince. The mahogany backboards, the quality of the timber and the classic, architectural proportions of this piece lends itself to a master cabinetmaker origin. The lower cabinet retains its original cedar shelves. Ex coll: Hanes Estate, North Carolina.
