Plaster with white paint, brass torchieres, overall in fine condition, some areas of touch ups.
Provenance: Private collection, Greensboro, North Carolina; Chrisities, London Important English Furniture 1997, Lot 32.
Near life size, these wonderful figures depict Hygeia holding a cup and snake and Ceres with a fruiting grapevine crown, both in contrapposto poses with raised arms holding torchieres, standing on molded plinths.
